What is Sofovir?
Sofovir (Sofosbuvir) is most commonly prescribed for the treatment of Hepatitis C. It is often used in combination with a other medications. It can be used to treat genotypes 1, 2, 3, and 4 of Hepatitis C.
How is Sofovir used?
Sofovir (Sofosbuvir) and other medications being taken to treat Hepatitis C are usually taken for 12 weeks. The medications will need to be taken daily and should be taken at the same time every day. It is recommended that you take Sofovir in the morning (to reduce insomnia) and to take it with food (to reduce nausea).
Adverse effects:
Sofovir (Sofosbuvir) is usually well tolerated. The most common side effects are nausea and insomnia. These side effects can be reduced by taking Sofovir with food and taking your doe in the morning.
Sofosbuvir can also reduce your red blood cell count. Regular blood tests can be scheduled to ensure that your levels are staying within normal limits. The liver can be adversely affected by taking Sofovir (Sofosbuvir). Patients with pre-existing liver problems shouldn't use this Sofosbuvir. Your doctor will test your liver function on a regular basis while taking Sofosbuvir.
